Americans of all kinds—elected officials, businesspeople, researchers, citizens—know that the U.S. needs groundbreaking thought and action if we are to thrive in the 21st century. In a world defined by technology and globalization, only the ability to conceive of fresh ideas and realize them will enable our students and workers to compete.
