Dear Maxine: Letters from the Unfinished Conversation with Maxine GreeneDear Maxine: Letters from the Unfinished Conversation with Maxine GreeneMaxine Greene has over the years touched countless people. Her vibrant humanity proves to have an indelible effect on those who come in contact with her. Inspired by the impact her ideas have had on educators and other thinkers in the course of a long and illustrious career, Robert Lake put together a book of intimate letters to Ms. Greene from her admirers. Dear Maxine: Letters from the Unfinished Conversation comprises 75 such letters from teachers, scholars, and artists. Lincoln Center Institute staff is well represented, so it seemed only natural that LCI would want to throw a little Dear Maxine book-signing party for the titular heroine. On February 4, LCI welcomed many of the letters' authors and other friends to speak and read excerpts from the book. Our Executive Director, Scott Noppe-Brandon, joked that one of the perks of his job is that he always gets to introduce Ms. Greene, but he wasn't the only one to feel privileged to be there. The speakers included the book's editor Robert Lake, LCI Director of Strategic Alliances Cathryn Williams, Michelle Fine, Susan Jean Mayer, Roger Dell, Rikki Asher, Wendi Kohli, Holly Fairbank, Janet Miller and Carole Saltz. Speaker after speaker remembered with affection the many moments when Ms. Greene had been a guiding beacon in their work.
