Lincoln Center Summer Festival Announced

Lincoln CenterThe participants in Lincoln Center Institute’s (LCI’s) International Educator Workshop will have the opportunity to enjoy the recently-announced Lincoln Center Festival, July 5–August 5. A veritable cornucopia of choices that runs the gamut from old favorites to cutting-edge arts, the Festival will offer several theater works, Sydney Theatre Company’s acclaimed production of Uncle Vanya among them. The dance offerings will include the Paris Opera Ballet, rarely seen in the U.S., whose program covers 19th and 20th centuries, with pieces such as Pina Bausch’s staging of Gluck’s Orpheus and Eurydice.

Vintage soul and rhythm and blues will be celebrated with the music of Curtis Mayfield. On the classical front, the Juilliard Orchestra, London’s Royal Academy Orchestra, and pianist Imogen Cooper will present a concert led by noted composer John Adams.

These are just a few samples of the lineup for this vibrant annual Lincoln Center event. Opera featuring Elizabeth Futral, Chinese puppetry by Yeung Faï, a play that sees Mikhail Baryshnikov performing in his native Russian, and much more, will add to New York’s exhilarating arts scene during a month when most cities’ art programming is on hiatus.
